Already 2 weeks old

Friday, July 22, 2016

Already 2 weeks past after the unforgettable birth of the 9 Crazy Kids. The little eating caterpillars had doubled their weight and they opened their eyes with the 12th day to explore the world. The first move took part because the first crate was too small for mummy Rose.

Rose is wonderful firstborn-mum, who takes care instinctively and lovingly of all nine in spite of the C-section and a first feeling of “Huh, who are they? Well, I will lactate them anyway”. And not only the little ones have got a big appetite, Rose is such a very good eater J

Hooray!! All nine...

Friday, July 8, 2016

After 4 long days in which everyone was waiting for the start, it was time. While Alex hold the fort in the house, I could cycle with all of the other dogs and finish everything with the horses outside.

Rose was increasing fretfully and couldn’t decide whether to go out or stay in, just her appetite stayed. As we had known it the lunch was the last meal she ingested.

Her breathe was hard more and more and after 10pm we were prepared for everything. Shortly before 11pm the bearing-down pains started very tentative and they raised slowly – but unfortunately nothing happened. Sadly no puppy was visible or tactile in the birth canal and so we were bound to drive to the vet after 1,5 hours.

Quickly everything was prepared and ready, Rose put asleep and at the same time Alex and I hold the first puppies in our hands. Now it was strike after strike, “the next one” was the only thing we heard out of the operation room and alternate we went on to get the next little mole. Armed with towels, rubbing and whispering we went through the room, looked at each other, prayed and went on rubbing. While the first puppies came to life very fast and then wafted around in the basket under the red light, we were frightened to lose the last ones. Too little hands, too many puppies, too little time! Suddenly four “lifeless” puppies lay in front of us and intestine panic came up. Through the anesthetic the ones, who had been in the womb for a longer time, slept longer and thus they needed more time to breathe and squawk.

Helpless we looked at each other, rubbed the puppies and gave glucose on the little tongues. Finally everything was great and our tears ran when the adrenaline sank.

9 wonderful puppies came to life through Rose and the doctor. 6 males and 3 females with an weight of 360-510g were waiting for the first dram of milk.

Welcome to life: Coco, Cleo, Chili, Cooper, Clooney, Cliff, Clay, Chris & Chuck

We would be ready now...

Monday, July 4, 2016

On Monday, the 4th of July, I was prepared… Day 59, like mummy Killarney. The throw crate stood in our living room for one week now and Rose lay in very often, hills of fresh washed bedclothes piled up, the scale and many other utensils were prepared and waiting for their commitment.

To be sure how many puppys we will have to expect, I drove to the vet in the morning to make an X-ray. A great picture J “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8… So well, that’s faineant, I would say 8+”, said the vet. So we drove back home and waited.

“Aunt Alex”, the owner of daddy Dante came here as a midwife from the Ruhr… Everything was ready, only Rose had time…

CAC Hamburg 2016

Sunday, July 3, 2016

Actually just because it is nearly in front of our front door, I started my trip with Stormy and Bette and we drove to the CAC Show on Sunday morning. I didn’t expected anything for Stormy, but he hunts the last stupid point for his German Champion…

It had rained very much the former days so the parking lane was a bog. We three sat in our tent warm and dry the whole day. Once in a while we had nice visitors, who used the porch roof to hide for the rain, and we were waiting for our commitment.

First it was Stormy who got a great Exc. 3 under judge Rita Bennemann – his legs were too short today. Well, the runner-up foundered, but this wasn’t important. Now it was the turn of BetteBette. She was the only Pharaoh entered and was judged by Märki Casanova from Switzerland. A very very great judge! She took very much time for Bette and therefore much stress. So BetteBette took Exc.  1, Junior BOB and BOB. And because the weather was nice now, I stayed for the mainring.

Out of all “Best Juniors” Märki Casanova chose three of the breeds and we were one of them! I was soo proud of our little girl at this point and when the judge came to me with the trophy for the ***Best Junior in Show *** and the words “she is lovely”, I really had my problems to hide my tears.

And finally we got it in black and white :-) The marriage on Schalke was successful and we are expecting our “Chaos Kids” during the first weeks of July.
And during mom Rose feels hungry for 13 and she also lost a bit of her athletic underline, Alexandra and daddy Dante lined up for the endurance test last week. Together they managed the 20km run and following subordination. We are soo proud of them both!!

ESA Dortmund 2016 Day 3

Sunday, May 8, 2016

Today should be the last and most important day of this weekend in Dortmund. For the pharaohs it was the European Winner Show under a judge who isn’t that easy to read.

Again the 7 entered pharaohs were the first dogs in the ring. And again Turner could stand up to his competitor in the championclass and got the title „European Winner 2016“. Also BetteBette could hold one’s ground under the judge Joachim Dux from Germany and she got the title „European Junior Winner 2016“ and is now already two times crufts qualified for 2017!
Now it was exciting, Merly had a competitior in the championclass, too. Today she could prevail against the other bitch. And also Queenie had society, which just got number 2 against her and Johnna. The judge just commentated it with a smile and the words „But now it’s enough“.
In the competition for the CACIB Merly was one step ahead in front of Queenie and finally, because oft he white tail tip, also in front of Bette. Turner won the BOB and got hold of a wonderful 3rd place in group 5 under the judge Vija Klucniece from Latvia, later in the mainring.
Stormy was entered at the judge Rita van Reyniers from Belgium and got a excellent 3rd place out of a very strong group. All wins were given to the Netherlands, what unfortunately exceled all the fears of all the starters and viewers.

Today Johanna tried Stormy, because of the successful final-qualification from the previous day :-) Both did a wonderful job under judge Rudi Loesaus and were rewarded with a great 2nd place out of a big group of juniorhandlers. The sentence „If you had brought me the pharaoh, you would have won“ then was a theoretical 2nd Day Win on the „success-account“ of our Dream-Duo.

The way home after such a fantastic weekend is twice funny, of course. The chest has never been as full packe das this time after the weekend in Dormund…

Your hooray

Saturday, May 7, 2016

On the 7th of May Rose and I went of the first time on our way to Gelsenkirchen and „Dante“ – Shavano’s One and Only Dreamcatcher. Turner had said it that was time, contrary to the opinion oft he vet.

Our our way there we were accompanied by this song, which is a save sign for me that it was the right moment

Dein Hurra...<3

And Turner should stay right. During almost unbearable heat the two „married“. While I had to lay duvets over the dogs by our A-litter, because it has been so freezing cold in March 2013, I refreshed the dogs with cold water today.

On the 8th of May we retried our visit to Dante. This time there was only a short skirmish without hanging and now it is time to count the days and wait for what the two will give to us hopefully in the beginning of July :-)

ESA Dortmund 2016 Day 2

Saturday, May 7, 2016

After a more or less quiet night, after all Rose is in heat and our boys could actually sing in a choir, and a relaxed breakfast, our ways seperated for the morning.

While I drove with Rose to Gelsenkirchen to see whether lord and master Dante would already be interested in the lady, Johanna walked through the halls and made herself a nice morning. Rose and I were back on time for the juniorhandling. It was the only competition for us today.

Again the actual judge was prevented for any reason and so Barbara Pallasky from Germany judged the juniorhandlers today. Out of a group of around 15 starters in the AK2, Merly and Johanna could convince the judge and won their class. In the competition for the day win in the mainring they prevailed against the winner oft he other class and so they won the **Best in Show Juniorhandler** and they are now qualified for the big final in autuum 2016.

ESA Dortmund 2016 Day 1

Thursday, May 5, 2016

On Thursday noon we started our trip to Dortmund with all 6 dogs and our driving hotel. After arriving, there weren’t spaces in shadow left but the parking lot attendant was gracious and he gave us a place where we could use power. So at least the ventilator could make for cooling. When everything was built-on, we had a nice relaxed evening.

On Friday morning we brought our fence into the hall still before eating breakfast, and without being failed through crowds. The 5 entered Pharaohs should be the first breed in the ring. Under judge Rita van Reyniers from Belgium, Turner was the first – he won the championclass and later also the BOB. Next one was BetteBette. Visible impressed from the acoustic level in the halls, she did a very good job and got the last needed point for the Junior-Champion VDH. Last one in the ring was Queenie. She won against her competitior in the class and got an Exc. 1, CACIB and finally the BOS. Now it was time to relax and wait for the mainring and the juniorhandling competition.

The judge who was designated for the juniorhandling was busy and so Petra Kusch was the “new” judge for this competition. Johanna and Merly made a nice performance but were unseeded. For the judge the general view was too “hectically”… In the mainring of group 5 there was nothing for Turner today, as we had expected it under judge A. Kammerscheid-Lammers from Germany.

Following it was a relaxed evening with the view to a very quiet Saturday.

CACIB Roskilde 2016 Day 2

Sunday, May 1, 2016

Rested it went on at Sunday morning. Wonderful when you can leave your tent overnight. What looked very stress-free in the catalog, went on to be stressful in time. The judge, who had to judge clearly more dogs in the ring, was very fast and so I had to go in the ring with Stormy today. We got hold of one of the little awarded “Excellent” and a second place in the Open Class under judge Torbjörn Skaar from Sweden. In the competition for the best mal we missed out then.

Not at the same time now, but directly after Stormy the Pharaohs started in the ring. Today Turner got “Best Male” and “Best of Breed” under judge Arne Foss from Norway. BetteBette – she really likes men more than women – got her second Danish CAC and was second best female.

With this great successes both dogs are qualified for Crufts 2017.

Now it was time to wait for the group. After I put away all of our stuff (including our new tent) into the car, I watched Johanna and Turner in the competition of group 5.

Under judge Arne Foss (and bright sunlight) the two won a wonderful **4. Place** out of a big and very strong group.

Very very happy we started our way home…
