International Dog Show Dortmund 2013

Sunday, October 13, 2013

Day 2 in Dortmund began with and dry and sunny day, which was a made up for the terrible weather of the previous day. This time "Baby Rose" was first to run. She was as always a lot of fun in the ring, got a nice report and a "very promising 1".

Then we waited at the greyhounds ring for the start of the Pharaohs and as not the WDR, but the DWZRV came and asked us to participate with the 3 dogs in the race exhibition, all arguments became pointless.

The judge was informed and we trotted away with the dogs. After the successful presentation of the three beauties we went back in goose-trot to hall 1. After all, the dogs were warm now :-)

Turner started first and was able to convince the judge Mr. "Jean Brixhe" from Belgium immediately. Afterwards, it was Queenie’s turn, who he also favored and finally our dream team.

Johanna was much more relaxed today, which you can always immediately see in Merly’s reaction and the two got a great report, the title "Autumn Junior Winner 2013" and again became "Best of Breed".

Mr. Brixhe is the President of the Belgian greyhounds clubs and Egyptologist and told us finally that we have three beautiful breed typical representatives of the Pharaoh Hounds.

There was nothing to get for Johanna and Merly in the junior handling of the age class 2, occupied with 18 strong starters. Additionally, Merly did not find much pleasure with the judge at the main ring, causing her short but loud expression. Hence, the wonderful impression from the preliminary ring was unfortunately gone…

Nevertheless, we proudly and very tired we went on our way back home at the end of day 2 with 9 loops, a trophy and a variety of food present...

Bundessieger-Show Dortmund 2013

Saturday, October 12, 2013

Finally is was time, the Bundessieger-Exhibition in Dortmund was imminent and our tension was huge. The only show in Germany, where you get the chance to receive a ticket to CRUFTS 2014. Our great desire – visiting England with Merly –.

Before Johanna‘s and Merly’s turn, me, Turner and Queenie had to climb the ring. Turner was cool as usual and was recognized by the judges right away, who said: “You were in Denmark! And he is still amazing!” He received a great judge’s report.
Queenie was next! She did a very good job as well and managed to stand still longer than before. Even though, she also received a great judge’s report, Turner was able to win the Best Youngest Dog of the Race. Then, it was finally Johanna‘s turn with Merly, who had been fighting back her tears caused by excitement (the WDR camera team did not make the situation any better). My dream team showed themselves from their best side.
Merly got the popular title „Bundes-Jugensieger 2013“ and became the Best Dog of the Race as well!

Herewith, we had our ticket to Birmingham.

We are very proud of our “Vaskurs Marion Jones Skumpandotter” from the house of Jenny Haff and are very excited about a meeting with many Merly siblings in march!!!
In the evening, it was time for Johanna and Merly to enter the ring of glory with the starting number 35 for the Best Dog of the FCI group 5. It is always astonishing to see, how there are so many race representatives in this group. My dream team reached the playoff of the top 8 elected by group judge “Jörgen Hindse DK”. Even though it did not suffice for the podium this time, I am always so proud to see those two and what they do together as well as for each other!

National Dog Show Krefeld 2013

Saturday, September 14, 2013

On Saturday morning, we drove off very early to Krefeld. We were expected by slightly to small rings, not much space around them and pouring rain. At some time we had built our camp and waited, since this time the pharaoh’s were first to be judged.

I started with Tuner in the Youngest Class, which he won under judge Marco Sistermann (D) with a VV1. He now can adorn himself with the title „Rheinlandjüngstensieger“ :-)

Then it was Johanna and Merly’s turn. Despite her heat, Merly did a souveran job as usual and won the V1 Anw. Dt. JdgCh. VDH & Club. Subsequently, she was awarded with the BOB againgst the bitch from the open class (Offene Klasse). Merly now also carries the title „Rheinlandjugendsieger“ and „Rheinlandsieger“.

There were 4 teenagers registered in the age class 13-17. While the speaker was sedulously talking about harder figures, which had to be run by the older group since they already have experience, Johanna’s nervousness became noticeable.

But even then, the two made a great team! At the end Merly and Johanna won the contest... what a great performance!

In the play-off against the winners from the age class from 9- 12 years, they were up for the dog exchange. Just like that, you come to a Whippet...

The play-off was won by the competitor. Anyways, Johanna cut a great figure and it was wonderful to look at.

Clubschau Bad Wildungen 2013

Sunday, July 28, 2013

On Friday evening we, Gaby and “RHL Kilimanjaro King Tamboti” as well as we went on our way to Bad-Wildungen to participate at the club show "Club ELSA ". It was supposed to be the debut show for " Rose" and I was accordingly excited on Saturday morning. In the luggage next to Rose were three standing ears to make a positive contribution to society and for decoration :-)

On Saturday we run for a great judge's report under the eyes of Mr Walter Schicker (D) a VV4. Rose, by far the smallest and youngest, made did a perfect job in the ring (the best?) and I was incredibly proud of my little girl. Standing still in front of the judges' table, showing teeth, letting them being checked and not even moving from the spot...

On Sunday, I was more relaxed. This time we had to confront the the eyes of Gisa Schicker (D). We received a really great report and our presentation was praised. Again, our magic mouse stood out like a rock in the waves and I was so proud.

It was a great VV1 and we " had" to stay until the end, which was not the plan, to run against the best males from the baby class.

Under the critical eyes of Christian Jouanchicot (F), Rose did her job wonderful again and made the impossible possible. My little " Killarney 's Heartland Aim high Caribbean Sunset " made their tribute to their mothers Killarney & Merly and became

"Best Baby of the African Cup 2013 "

Sighthoundshow Denmark

Saturday, July 27, 2013

On early Saturday morning we took off to Norresundby in Denmark. In our baggage, besides the two registered "Merly" and "Turner", we also had our babies "Rose" and "Queenie". It was basically a family trip.

It was like you expect it from Denmark, a great event with friendly people and lots of green around to run with the dogs.

At first, I started with Turner in the baby class and despite my terrible excitement Turner remained cool, as if he had already done this at least a hundred times. With a great judge's report, he became confidently and with a " very promising" the "Best Baby". Later he also won the "Best in Show Baby".

Johanna started in the junior class with Merly, and they were a nice and sovereign pair as always. This was rewarded with an "excellent" and the first place. Unfortunately, it was not time for the Danish CAC, yet.

We had a great day with old and new friends and look forward to seeing you again in September!

Puppy Meeting

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Finally the time has come... even though I can experience four of my "children" on Fridays at puppies class on a regular basis, it was a special feeling to have 7 of the 8 " Aim high 's" with their families for a few hours back at home.

It was a wonderful day with friends and beautiful dogs :-)

It is fantastic to see all together, so relaxed, friendly, wild and yet incredibly cool.

Even Papa "Matakima Caito" and second cousin "Matakima Ekhaya" were with their families, as well as "Jette" the Labrador who lives with our "Harry" alias "Killarney 's Heartland Aim high The Red Baron".

I was so happy to see them all shortly before the 4th Month!

Thank you to all my puppy owners for this great day and Paquita Leendertz for the photos, wonderful as always!

Sad Certainty

Saturday, July 6, 2013

4 weeks after the autopsy of our 3 passed away puppies and the same diagnosis in different laboratories - healthy and well developed puppies with unsettled heart and circulatory failure  – the results from the toxicological examination by the LMU Munich arrived.
Several people already expressed their suspicions after Killarney’s death, now we have the certainty. Our puppy’s death was caused by convulsant poison, which already takes effect as a neurotoxin in very small doses. The risk of intoxication does not only exist when swalled, but also when the poison was breathed in or had contact with the skin. The consequences are pulmonary edema and respiratory paralysis.
This poison does not exist on our premises…..

Since I have already maintained transparency and openness after the sudden death of our mother dog „Killarney“ with the Executive Board as well as with the breed survey master, these people obviously received the toxicology report and the pathology results approved by the LMU.
Herewith, I would like to close this sad chapter of my A-litter.
